Welcome to Richland Valley Family Farms! We have been enjoying a lot of rain this month! The Richland creek, Eula crossing, has been too high to cross the last few weekends! Good thing MaMa and Pa have been prepared and have not needed to go to town! The nearest grocery store is located in Marshall. Marshall is only 19 miles away from the farm, but takes about 1 hour to get there if traveling through Snowball!
This is my first time “blogging”! I guess I will start by giving a little background information. Myself, Cassie Fisher (Adam), and my brother Joshua McCutcheon recently added acreage to our parents and our established farm. We were able to add land that was originally purchased in April 1951 by our Uncle Sam McCutcheon. He was our grandfathers (William “Armon” McCutcheon) brother. The previous owner was Sallie Ables (widow).
Our father, Randy Bruce (Judy), is the fifth generation to live at the farm. He is the oldest son of William “Armon” and Wanda Estalee (Milam) McCutcheon. His siblings are older sister Margie Elaine (Susie), younger sister Elona Mae, and younger brother Andy William. Randy began his life at Eula, Arkansas and lived there until around 1986 when he married to Judy Lynn Lewis. He was not always there, he did travel for work, but always knew his way home. Randy and Judy always lived close to their parents. In August 2005 they moved to Richland. By this time my brother and I were out of high school and pursing our college education. Their first grandson, Landen Cole Walker (Vern), was just about to turn three. They continue making a living by raising Limousin cattle and local contract work. After moving to Richland they gained a son-in-law, Adam Fisher, and two more grandsons Jackson Claud (Perch) and Adam James (Minner).

Our family history runs deep here in the valley. This area was settled by families with history going back into the at least the late 1700s. Ruff Robertsons Dickey Cash Wyatt McCutcheon Hale came to this Valley in the early 1840s. There history and legacy lies in in the cemeteries in the valley and across this great country. I am extremely proud to still call the Richland Valley home.
I am so excited for having the time to research! Also, to share stories! It always feels like home to me, and one day I plan to live there full time!

I very much enjoy reading your blog about your ancestors, family, and their heritage growing up in the Richland area. My father was born in Iceledo and he roamed all that area in his youth. He had lots of fond memories of that area.
My grandparents, Loy Erastus (also, a descendant of Ezekiel Norris McCutcheon) and Myrtle Rea Hill, would take my cousins and me to Richland every summer to camp. We so looked forward to that trip every year and swimming in the creek.
Even though I never lived there, I’ve often tried to imagine through the stories dad and his family told what it would have been like to grow up there. He lived there as a child through the Great Depression. He always said they didn’t know there was a depression going on because they grew up poor but they always had what they needed as far as food and shelter. They may have been poor monetarily but they were rich with a loving family and wonderful neighbors.
